I recently read a book about rejection and being rejection proof. As nice as it sounds, having the super power to have literally no one say no to you let’s be real…is that even possible? and if it is, do you really want that?
After reading Rejection Proof I realize it has nothing to do with gaining a super power. Being rejection proof means conditioning yourself to rejection. It’s learning how to live through rejection. Like many lessons you will learn in life, this is one you need to master or become an expert at a younger age.
Now more than ever when I hear people say “fail fast” it isn’t just hype. Rejection is real, it’s the gateway drug to failure and all the other dark places you don’t want to be. I understand what it really means and how true it is. Fail fast, fail often, and fail when you’re young. The cut won’t sting so much when you’re young because you can wave the “I’m inexperienced flag.” But word to the wise, I’d think twice before whipping out that card, especially when it comes to entrepreneurship. Not that many people will sympathize. So, get denied by your first crush, get your first ‘F’ when you’re in grade school, NOT when you’re in high school. Or, get your first ‘F’ in high school so you get denied from your “dream school.” Apply for a handful of jobs and take on as many opportunities as you can. Expose yourself and gain experience. Appreciate shitty bosses so you can be a better one. The world needs transparency, so don’t forget to pay it forward and tell everyone else about what worked and what didn’t work for you.
